Why we run

( An anonymous poster posted this on my running forum... I liked it. )

Why do you run?
For fitness. For focus. For health. For determination. For discipline. For endurance. For sanity. For my heart. For my lungs. For energy. To be tough. To set goals. To meet them. To hike better. Ski better. Sleep better. To surprise people. To impress them. To surprise and impress myself. To beat the odds. To make friends. To feel accomplishment. To watch the sun rise. To hear silence. For inner peace. For world peace. To beat Oprah. P Diddy. Lance. Maybe not Lance. For medals. Free socks. To drink beer at 9:30 in the morning. To drink less overall. To eat healthy. To sleep plenty. To make a point. To reach a goal. To help a cause. To feel alive. To show off. To be tougher. To be together. To be alone. To feel better. To feel the pain. To stop the pain. Th catch the pack. To lead the pack. To find yourself. To lose yourself. To help someone. To find what's real. To escape reality. To get in shape. To make it to the top. To make the team. To make a difference. To be your best. To look cool. To beat the other guy. To beat the odds. To wear cool shoes. To get there fast. To get there first. To get ahead. To clear your head. To impress the girls. To impress the guys. The make a challenge. To meet the challenge. To surprise yourself. To be competitive. To take the lead. To win. Or do you just run so you can get another free T-shirt?

I love it! My favorite: To drink beer at 9:30AM.

It says nothing about fleeing natives through the jungle or carrying your wounded commrade accross a mine field, but all in all still very good.
