The calm

This morning I prepared 3 different bags with stuff my friend (and 'race angel') Nedra will have for me at the 7 mile mark, 12.5 mark, and 18 mile mark.

I've decided to have her give me a fresh cap and a fresh pairs of gloves at 12 and 18. Maybe putting on a dry cap, and dry gloves will help me feel a little better. Kind of like a new pair of underwear, or a clean pair of warm socks. We'll see. She'll also have water with electrolytes as well as Power Gels for me.

When I was putting those different bags together, and walking around the apartment getting ready to go run my 20 15mins to stretch my legs, for some reason the movie Gladiator came into my mind. The thought of this marathon being a battle really made sense, and today, the day before, i just take it easy, sharpen the blad of my sword, make sure the ball at the end of my chain has sturdy nails, and that my armor is all laid out, clean and ready to go. I couldn't help myself, and watched Gladiator this afternoon. What a great movie. Especially the very beginnning.

If you don't want to watch these whole 5mins, click to 3/4 way through, and watch the last 1min30.

and rememeber.... What we do in life, echoes in eternity.
