Goal 3hr10 - pace 7:15/m
Boston 3hr15 - pace 7:24/mile
At 6am today, we had our "18 mile LAB". A race simulation run where we run 3.5 mile loops around a neighborhood with cones placed at every half mile so we can simulate a race, and see where we are fitness wise. The weather was around 70 degrees and quite humid.
We were supposed to do one 3.5 mile loop at an easy warmup pace, then 12 miles at Marathon goal pace, then 2.5 miles cooldown. (I decided to add more race pace miles.)
I ran:
2.5 miles warmup at around a 8:15/mile then:
M1 - 7:13
M2 - 6:44
M3 - 7:02
M4 - 7:05
M5 - 7:06
M6 - 6:56
M7 - 7:04
M8 - 7:06 (Hammer Gel at Mile 10)
M9 - 6:58
M10 - 6:51
M11 - 7:01
M12 - 6:40
M13 - 6:35
M14 - 6:56
1/2 mile - 3:20 (6:40 pace)
1 mile cooldown
I rocked it! And best of all, I ran all my pace miles alone except that M13 when I caught Ken and pulled him along.
If I have the run, and the mental strength I had today in Dallas on December 9th, I'm pretty confident I'll achieve my end goal.
All I want for Christmas is good, crispy-cool weather on Dec 9 in Dallas. No warmer than 58. Is that too much to ask for?
Can we all just wish for that? I promise I'll be nice.

That's awesome, Wiley! Dallas is usually nice for the marathon, I'll keep my fingers crossed it's nice this year, too!
Nicely Done indeed! YOU ROCK!
