22 miles of genius

Rogue had today's longest supported route set at 16 miles, and essentially was an out and back of 8 miles along Townlake from I35 out to Hula Hut, and then up along Scenic Drive to Mayfield Park/Mt Bonnell and back.

I needed 22. Nedra and Erin invited me to run with them starting at 5:30am, but they were "only" (18 is never just so "only") going 18. Hmmm... A little thinking and I had the perfect plan, especially since we're all three big fans of a post run soak at Zilker!!

Check it out:
The distance from Barton Springs to the Mopac Rock is 1 mile via Stratford.
So, I first set out on my own and did a 4 mile loop starting at 4:55am. It took me 34 minutes to get back, and we set out right on time. The two extra miles they needed were made up by the mile out and mile back to and from Barton Springs.

Anyway, ran to the rock, then ran that 8 mile out and back, just started it from Mile 4, running back to Mile 1, then out to Mayfield Park and back.
The genius here, is not only did we finish at Barton Springs so we could jump in, soak, and cool off, but we also didn't have to run all... the... way... back to Rogue (looking into the sun) for 4 miles once we got the Mopac/Rock. We only had one last mile back to the magical mystical waters of Barton Springs!

It was even nicer that I didn't run some silly fast pace (Like last week - 7:41) as I still have quite the run tomorrow (30K Saint but potentially will only run 2 of the loops). We averaged a nice 8:30'ish (including the hill miles) pace or so, and I ran my 22 miles in 3 hours and 10 minutes. I felt like I could easily have added several miles when we were done.

Took 2 Gels: Mile 9 and Mile 17.

82.5 miles so far this week.
