Who the hell updates their address everytime they move with arilines?

I used to fly Delta all the time when I was in College (to and from Mexico City) to Honolulu, or to Stockholm.

- Last time I decided to look at my frequent flyer miles on Delta was probably 6 years ago, as Southwest and AA have clearly taken over my flying habits.
- Back in the day, 6 years ago, I used a Hotmail account. I now use a Gmail account. That Hotmail account has long been shut down.
- Now with my new job, Continental Airlines AND Delta come into play, as they share Frequent Flyer miles, so it makes sense for me to start tracking Delta miles again.

I don't know/remember my PIN (password) number for Delta's website so I can check my miles. So I went to the site and said "Forgot Pin", to which the site spits back:
"We have emailed you your Pin number".
But I can't get that email, because it's going to a dead account.
So I call Delta, and they ask for home address verification, to which i proceed to spell out all details of my current home, my previous home in Dripping Springs (2 years ago), and my previous previous one in Leander (5 yrs ago). She accurately identifies me, not only by me giving her my Leander address, but also by me telling her all about the travels I've done that should be logged, including last week's travel, AND flights to Honolulu back in the 1990's!
I also volunteered any ticket information located on my boarding pass from last week(that i had in front of me).

Then this conversation ensued: (I have nothing against people of Indian ancestry, but I thought you should know so you can accurately re-live my life)

Ok, so:
"I need my PIN, so i can log in and change things."
We can only email you or mail you your PIN.
"Umm, you need to update my email."
We cannot update your email. You must fax us a letter or mail us a letter.
"Umm, you need to update my mailing address because the letter you would send me with my PIN also won't get to me."
We cannot update your mailing address. You must fax us a letter or mail us a letter.
"So you're telling me we went through this entire exercise of confirming who I am, only to tell me you can't edit anything on your end?"
That is correct.
"Why confirm anything, if you can't edit?"
That is our policy, I'm sorry, I don't make the rules, sir.
"So I have to mail you a letter or fax you a letter, with my old contact information, which i JUST told you over the phone, and then in the next few weeks, someone will update my information and email me or mail me my PIN number?"
Yes sir.
"Ma'am, I know you're not in charge, but how is that any different from someone stealing my data through a fax or email. I clearly know everything about myself. Let me ask you, are you in Atlanta at the HQ?"
No sir.
"Where are you?"
I am in India.
"Do you have a comments box that will get sent to the appropriate people? Could you tell them, that the website is terrible, because it is lacking the secret question option for self-help PIN retrieval option. OK, can I email someone for my address to be updated?"
No sir, only fax or mail.
"I don't have access to a fax machine, so what's the address?"
blah blah blah... bunch of number i don't understand because she doesn't speak clear English. Sifaifo, is not English. Six Five Four, is.
Sorry, but it's true.

Stupid Stupid Delta. No wonder I stopped flying them 8 years ago. Things still haven't changed.

And no wonder they're going out of Business - they're old and antiquated. I bet their management staff is past their prime, and no one is a forward thinker.

Yes, they also suck in their containers.

And yes, I did send a slightly edited copy of this write-up to them via their website. Lets see what comes back.

It's so stupid.
We're talking about miles, not my health records.

Ha ha! And ironically... I believe Delta is LIGHT years beyond most of the others (US Air, United, Continental, etc) technologically.

Maybe I just have low standards?
