My legs feel like Gummi Tarsan. (pr: Goomy Tah-shann)
Literal translation from Swedish: Gummy Tarzan.
What does it mean, it means more like Spaghetti legs. Like your legs are dead. Not yours, but mine. My legs are dead. Yep. They sure are.
I got through the 24 miles, in large part due to Tausha's ability to bring up topics of conversation. I felt great for the first 9 miles or so. Half of the regular guys were feeling better, and they quickly ran away. Damon, Bruce, Tausha and I, ran a nice leisurely pace of around 8 min miles for the first 3rd, then 8:15's or so for the 2nd 3rd, and then probably slowed down to a 8:20 or even 8:30 at some parts. My legs were fried by the time were reached Shoal Creek, and we still had 2 more hours to run.
I didn't bonk, or have a bad bad run, so I won't put this down as a bad run. My legs are simply beat up from 20 days of running a LOT. And so, there's not much energy behind them / in them / out of them?
All in all, the run felt like it took forever, but I think that's because I went in to the run with that mentality. "Just get through these 24" Thanks to Bruce, Damon and Tausha though, we kept the conversation flowing and I got through my run.
(I kinda feel like i'm making it sound like it was all about me, but it wasn't. However, this is my blog, so I'm writing about my experiences)
Now it's time for a long nap, then some brief fun with friends before I duck back home by 6:30 for the start of the Men's Marathon. I can't wait! I'm going to record it, in case it's a good one, so I can watch it over and over.
66 + 24 = 90.
Tomorrow's 10 will be painful as I didn't take an icebath, but I think after 3 or 4 miles, my legs will be warmed up enough to make it pretty easily. I may even run a fast last mile or last half mile. Why not!?
Then later tomorrow, I think I'm going to either eat the worst-for-ya food I can get my hands on, or eat some sushi as celebration of reaching my goal that I honestly thought was a pipedream when I set it on April 5th! (margaritas, beer, mojitos, you name it, I'm drinking some of those too).
Why? Because I can.
Why? Because I deserve it.
Why? Why the hell not! I'm sleeping in on Monday!
Anyone up for early dinner on Sunday?! (Mexican or Sushi)
