I love runs that magically end up being longer than they were supposed to. In your head you're thinking... ok, 16 miles today, that should be ok. And then, when you're 6 feet from your car, your buddy's Garmin Pace Slave (GPS) beeps signaling Mile 17. Nice! A freebie mile!! I didn't even have to pay extra or even half price for it.
Best part about it, is that I get to run 1 less mile on Sunday!!
I also made my week's 2nd great pre-run decision today. Remember how last Tuesday, i turned around and went home for a cap, just in case it would rain? Well today, I intended to do a quick 1.2 mile Karma loop before the run, but because he decided to take too much time sniffing stuff instead of pooping at the house, Ii ran out of time and had to cancel that idea. 18.2 miles on a Thursday may not have had the same outcome as today's 17 mile sixteen miler. (We'll run the Karma Loop to tomorrow.)
My legs are tired, I'm not going to lie, but I'm also not whining about it. I knew it'd be tough to churn out 300 miles in 21 straight days when I signed up for it.
I kind of think it's the lack of Barton Springs' cold water leg soak after Tuesday and Wednesday, and of course the fact that late night working and Olympics watching has me...
But like coach says: "Suck it up and roll", and that's precisely what i'm going to do until Sunday!
