T - 35 : Saturday Long Run 22 miles

I ran this as a rookie. I didn't hydrate properly on Thursday or Friday, and my nutrition on Friday was dumb. If there was an excuse, it would be that I got busy working, and at 2pm, realized I hadn't had a single glass of water, and no lunch, but I should know better, and I do now. It's November, and it's time to get 100% serious about nutrition and hydration.

The run sucked for me. Four #1`stops and one #2 stop. Felt tired, sluggish and heavy legged for a good 14 miles. When we finally reached the 'return to downtown' point, I started feeling better. Not sure of my pace, but I know that it was 7:45 or faster for much of the run, with the guys until I pulled off for my #2 stop. I then consciosuly ran slower for a few miles, until I picked it back up with Derrick for a few miles. He told me we'd been running 7:45' for 3 miles. I then caught the guys again (not sure how?) and ran in with them. Gradulally picked up the pace, and closed hard for a mile peaking at a 6:13 pace (according to Damon's GPS).

Certainly not a run i'll rememeber for all the fun I had on it, but it was nice to know I could pull my way through a crappy 22 miles and keep some faster than normal paces.

Total time (including water stops and nature stops): 2:56

I felt like crap on Sat too. I have the same problem with water...I'll realize it is past noon and I'm way behind!
