we got lost a little due to dark roads around mile 3 - 5, so ended up adding 3/4 of a mile to the route. no biggie, we just improvised. first warm and sweaty run of the year. felt good overall, ran with silent shawn, Coach Sisson and Kristen for most of it. Ended up averaging around 7:15 is my guess, since we went up to 7:35 pretty quick and then were going 7:15 when the last GPS owner left us (Mark) around mile 7. We kept that pace or picked it up a tad more for the rest of the run, but no faster than 7min/mile at the most.
Felt good throughout except Mr Plantar really showed up on the first 3 miles. He was REALLY beating my left foot when we ran along the lance armstrong bikeway. I always forget how much i hate concrete till i run on it.
Today I made the decision that no matter how fast and flat that course is, I will never be awarded a Houston Marathon finisher's medal. I'd have to take a year off due to Plantars death if I hopped on those concrete roads.
