"Red Lights: The great equalizers"

Was feeling really good today, so I didn't mind that the front runners were feeling spunky and running faster than our usual Tuesday run. Usually i let them go, but today, I was probably one of the ones that kept the pace going as I was upfront for most of the first half.
The group was pretty big this morning, about 15 of us for quite some time, and then down to about 8 when the 14 mile detour came about.

You know when you're running a pretty hard pace, and you're forced to stop for traffic and it just hurts like hell to have to stop, then get restarted? For some reason luck was on my side almost all the way, as it seems like traffic cleared as i got to intersections and i was able to keep running, while other we forced to stop. Even started joking as we approached some busier intersection repeating "no cars, no cars, come on, no cars" and as luck would have it, the red sea would part and those around me didn't need to stop.
That lucky streak eventually came to an end as I got stuck at 15th and Rio Grande, and then Guadalupe and 4th and Congress and 4th for quite some time.

Sometimes you get lucky to cross, sometimes you get lucky that ones ahead of you get stuck and you can catch up, and sometimes you're the one that gets screwed repeatedly.

Today, I was definitely on the lucky side of things. Tomorrow will probably be a different story.

14 mile run, averaging 7:22 pace per mile.
