I say 'they' as I'm 2.5 weeks to Stockholm, and not starting up again.
I knew I shouldn't have tried the fancy new stretches that they were introduced to. There weren't many and they weren't obnoxiously tough, and I didn't do more than a 1/3 of them. Most were to prevent Hamstring injuries, and since I already have some tender hammies... I stupidly did a few of them.
We went out for a 10 mile run, and at about mile 5, my back cramped/seized up quite nicely. Was it a coincidence that i did some strange new stretches, or was it that I slept weird last night. We'll never know, but I don't think it's anything to be concerned about. I'll make sure i don't make it worse.
What we do know, is that I'm not doing anything new until race day, since the rule is always, don't try anything new 2.5 weeks before your race.
A perfect moment to tell myself: "eh, what are you gonna do?!", followed by, "It is what it is".
Then I got some wonderful news that made me say those two lines several more times on the drive home. Yay!
