A new low in Travel

I got my Delta Skymiles account back in the 80's.  Yes, the 80's I think is accurate. If not the 80's then DEFINITELY not later than 1990 when I went to college.  My problem is that since Jan 1, 1990, I can recall 21 different physical locations that I have called home.  I moved around a lot living off-campus in college, and in the 14 years in Austin, I've moved 9 times.  I don't remember the exact addresses, exact apartment numbers, and especially not the zip codes of every location, but I do recall parts of most addresses and can picture the locations when I close my eyes.

This is where it gets a little complicated.
- Delta airlines has some old address of mine on file. (21 possibilities of which 16 are pretty viable options)
- Delta airlines has some old email address of mine on file. (I've had 11 different work or personal email addresses in of which 4 are all viable for this issue.)

Delta airlines Sky Miles asks for your Sky Miles number AND your PIN Number (a 4 digit number) to log in to your account.  Trust me, I've tried every 4 digit number I can think of that I may have used in my life without luck.

If you don't know that PIN Number, they will email you your PIN number or a new one to your email address on file.  If you don't know your email address, you're screwed UNLESS, you can provide the Zip Code that is on file AND the email address to log in and change to a better email address.  I've tried plenty of combinations, but the issue is, they account gets locked FOR A WEEK if you mess up more than 2 or 3 times... so it's almost impossible.

The lady on the phone won't tell me what she has on file, even though I have given her my life story so she can stare at her screen and see an address I tell her, AND I can even retrace flights I took back in the late 80's and 1990's and onward that would prove to her that I am who I say I am.

However, Delta doesn't allow their phone customer service reps to assist you in changing your email or home address over the phone without you giving them your PIN number.  But that's the problem Miss phone person... I need my PIN to change my address, and I need to change my address so you can mail me my new PIN number, so I'm stuck in a skymiles circle of hell because your website doesn't have an automated set of security questions, or heck, the lady on the phone should be able to accept me as "me" after i answer account related questions.

Especially since all she says I have to do, is mail a letter with my name, my current address, my skymiles number and my current email address to them, and request a new pin number and that my email address be updated. What part of mailing that stuff is going to be any different than me giving her that EXACT same information over the phone several times?!?!

Happy Monday!

Too many sites to keep track of needing different set of user names, pins, passwords, unique security questions and more. I stated trying to keep a list, and last time I moved it took me weeks to get through all the ones that needed updated address -- and I am sure I missed some.

Yeah I seem to remember you having this exact issue last year some time.

I do remember having an issue, but I'm not sure it was Delta.
Then again, maybe it was.
(too lazy to go check, and too much Giro to watch on universalsports.com )

Problems like this are evident of the normal ways of life. Sometimes we need to experience these kinds of challenges. Just move on! ; )
