Texas 34 ~ Texas Tech 24

Maybe I'm a little less critical than the local media, maybe I'm less critical than super duper fans, or, maybe I'm looking at the world through burnt orange glasses, but as far as I'm concerned, the sky is not falling.

Before we get to my opinion the game, it's important to take a look at the others out there: #1 Florida beat an UNRANKED Tennessee team at home by "only" 10points. The Roman Empire LOST to Washington, a school that lost EVERY SINGLE game last year and has lost to an unranked opponent now for 4 straight years.
Most other highly ranked team have played cupcakes except Alabama who has played one good opponent: #3 Alabama has played VaTech, North Texas, and Florida International (all at home). Penn State has played Akron, Syracuse and Temple(all at home), and #5 Ole Miss has played Memphis and Southeastern Louisiana (road and Home).
WOW!! I'm impressed!
So before you start thinking they might deserve to be above UT in the rankings, look at those match ups! (Especially when several teams have cancelled their trips to Wyoming in the last 2 years because they were nervous.)

ON TO THE TECH GAME:
I was nervous as all hell before this game, because i know as well as everyone else that Texas Tech brings all they have to games against us, and they are a very dangerous team. They can score at will, and they rarely score less than 30 points.

If you would have asked me before the game if I'd be satisfied/happy with ALL 5 of the following things happening...
1- Texas will play a QB that had the flu all week and was limited to next to no practice but will STILL WIN BY DOUBLE DIGITS.
2- Texas will limit Tech to 1 field goal in the first quarter, AND hold them scoreless for the entire 2nd quarter.
3- Texas will keep Tech to NEGATIVE rushing yards.
4- Texas will only allow Offense Happy Tech to score 3 touchdowns during the WHOLE ENTIRE GAME.
5- Texas will hold Texas Tech to under 25 points even though they'll throw the ball for 400+ yards.

...I would have replied with a resounding "YES!" then told you that you're crazy because that won't ever happen.

Well that's EXACTLY what happened! ALL 5 OF THINGS HAPPENED!!

Finally, one thing some need to do, is stop thinking we're the center of the universe and really watch what the nation thinks by seeing what mainstream media is saying about the outcome. Sportscenter, and College Gameday Final pretty much just said that after a sluggish start, we contained Tech and defeated them. All 15-20 seconds worth of highlights were Texas plays.
Big picture, that's a good thing.

We're 3 and 0, and it's time to prepare for UTEP, and I couldn't be happier!
