This military weather satellite looking north of Europe overnight spotted a very bright band of "northern lights" just north of Norway (the yellow streak on the picture.) Click HERE for that image
It's a result of a double ejection from an active sunspot.
Coronagraphs onboard the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) observed that bright double-ringed coronal mass ejection (CME) billowing over the sun's western limb. At present, the source of the blast is unknown. Click HERE to see the double ejection
