Barefoot running leads to injuries in Iowa

My friend Josh B, shared an article with me about two guys getting caught in a hailstorm while running and got beat up pretty good.  I can't figure out what they were thinking.

Here's the article

I have many thoughts here, but I'll share the first 2 that came to me:

1- Had they not been running barefoot, maybe they could've run faster to get out of the mess.

2- Since when is this the description of a runner:
"...and you could tell he was a runner because he had the running shorts on, he was barefooted, and he looked pretty beat up,"
In my opinion, that describes an idiot.   Yeah, I guess you can tell i'm not a big fan of barefoot running.  I think it's quite silly.  Then again, to each his own.  But this is my blog, and i'll ridicule them as much as I want.  Further more, yet another article proving that barefoot running leads to more harm than good.

I almost spit up my food I was laughing so hard at your comment about that perceptive woman's comment.
