mental toast

I can't seem to get my butt in gear to go run.  It is no secret that I hate running alone.
But then again, when I have to, i usually fair ok if there's a goal out there in the future.
But then again, today, I actually had all kinds of options to meet up with friends, but none were at Karma friendly starting points so i was on my own.
But then again, i just wanted to say but then again.  ha!

Seriously tho, i'm feeling completely uninspired, or absolutely mentally drained about running.  I really think that race in Boston just took every last ounce of mental running ability and sucked it away.  i'm ok with that, as it was my 'A' trace for the whole year, but wow... today I quit running after just 2.2 miles with Karma.  In fact, I almost opted for just one 1.1 mile Karma loop and not two.

Tomorrow some friends are running.  I'm undecided if I'll go.  I also hear rumors that their pace is in the low 7's which is far from where I want to be running these days so that's a big issue for me.
At some point the mental aspect will come back, but I'm in no hurry.  Other than an important, yet fun run this weekend, I'm in complete OFF SEASON mode at the very least till June 15th, when i'll start picking my mileage back up to 70-80-90 miles/week, but will not choose a race anytime soon.

I doubt I'll have any issues running in the Grand Canyon this weekend, but I am a little apprehensive about being able to knock out 48 miles out there.  That's quite far for someone whose last run over 27 miles was in early January, and that was a mere 36 miles.
What am I doing?  Rim 2 Rim 2 Rim. But unlike this guys, we're running it all in one day, not hiking. But his photos are cool)

You'll be fine. The first 40 miles will be cake for you. The last few will suck but you'll almost be finished by then.

get your ass out there and run! Going for a run when you don't "feel" like running is the best mental preparation for race day.
That low 7min pace will make your ultra pace feel that much easier.
