A few weeks ago i noticed that some wasps had started building a nest under the overhang of my front door area. Last week I acquired some of that instant killing spray that you can shoot from 1/2 a mile away and sprayed them dead. I decided to wait a while before I removed the actual nest they had built, not sure why, but I did. I did notice a wasp or two would return to the nest from time to time, but i figured they would eventually die of natural causes or maybe touch some residue of the killing potion and that would take care of them.
These days I've been staying up longer than normal since I haven't been getting up at 4:30 to meet friend to run an hour later. This means I sometimes fall asleep on my couch, and the routine from there is to wake up 30-45 mins later, inform Karma it's time to "go outside and pee", to which I open the door, he scoots on out, sniffs a little does his thing and eventually comes back in. Sometimes I walk out there a few steps off my front door to see what the weather's like, if the neighborhood is safe, whatever. Last night I did just that; passed out around 10:15, woke up at 10:44 and let Karma out. I followed him as it was nice and cool off from all the rain, and stood a few steps from my door looking for stars or cloud cover.
All of a sudden my 4th to from the big toe on my left foot just started burn something fierce. What the hell?? My lord was it painful. After a quick bounce from where I was to get away from the burning coals (and jumping around on one foot in excruciating pain for 15 seconds thinking death might be imminent), i reutned to see what was going on. A wasp was on the ground and I must have gotten too close to it. It was fighting for it's life with a whole bunch of teeny tiny ants. The smallest ants I've ever seen. Smaller than those little sugar ants that sometimes invade your home. I guess it was so pissed it stung at me too and holy cow did it hurt.
I guess Mr. Wasp eventually inhaled too much killing spray residue on his nest, fainted, fell to the ground, woke up to attacking microscopic ants and in fight for it's life went after me too. Revenge.
Needless to say, the typical walk upstairs followed by being fast asleep before i even hit the pillow was far from what happenned last night. The stinging, burning, pain was around for a good 15 minutes before i was finally able to count enough sheep jumping over the moon to fall asleep.
Quite the memorable evening, and note to self, watch where you put your feet regardless how sleepy you are.
On the running front there's some news to share. I finally went for a session with my masseuse Lisa, and she worked on my IT Band, Hamstring, Hip, Glute and everything in between for a long time. She was amazed at how the IT band had pretty fused itself on to my quad muscle, making it impossible for there to be any motion on stretching relief when i run. Hence why i have been in such pain.
She was able to loosen it up a bit, and has full faith that I should recover soon enough provided I do the work to make it happen.. I've been sent home with a couple additional things to add to what I've already been doing to try and fix it.
Hopefully I'll be back to running sooner than later, because with each day that passes, I can feel the fitness leaving my body, and my running pals keep getting fitter and fitter, and soon enough I won't have anyone to run with, which really sucks.
She also suggested more trail running, and that is exactly what I want to be doing these days!
That's all the excitement I've got for you guys today.
Thanks for stopping by, and happy running, to those of you who can.
