My last run for the foreseeable future... The HERMINE run

Since my doctor has said no more running, i'm sure glad i went for a trail run today.
Whenever we get big rains, I like to run the greenbelt to see it come alive.  So many dry creeks fill up and the water dances and sings for a few days.  There's nothing like it, and the sights fill my memory banks so when i run there again during the dry times, I can envision how they were alive and flowing.

Hurricane Hermine has POUNDED Austin yesterday and last night, (see news photos here), which means today was a necessary trail run. I have NEVER seen that much water out there ever.  Creeks I never knew existed came alive.  The main creek,  Barton Creek, is flowing 12 feet higher than normal.

Here's what i saw today: http://www.flickr.com/photos/29083497@N08/
I wish had more before photos to show you the difference, but alas, I don't!

(This gives you a decent view of how much water is flowing down Barton Creek this morning due to Hurricane Hermine's rain dump here in Austin,TX. The photo on the right shows you the water at the Dam upstream from the Hill of Life on a normal day. The photo on the left is a photo i took this morning at about 8am, Wednesday Sept 8, 2010. Look how the water is now a continuous river way up there and there is no visual sign of a 10-15 foot drop at the dam.)
