Join me for some laughs this weekend.

[ I am Mr. Barnaby, you are Jill. I am sitting in a coffee shop typing away on my old type writer, you are coming in to get a Latte to go. We are old friends and haven't seen each other since I last did your taxes. ]

Hey Mr. Barnaby, how are you?
Oh, I'm doing great, Jill, how have you been?
I've been great! What have you been up to?, we should get together and catch up sometime!
Yes, we should! Personally, over the last 7 weeks I've been taking Improv Comedy classes.
What??
Yes! Improv comedy classes! Like the tv show "who's line is it anyway"!
You're kidding me, right.
No, I'm not! It's been so much fun. I haven't laughed this much in I don't know how long.
Hmmm...
Yeah, it's once a week on Wednesday nights for 3 hours, and it's been hysterical.
I could never do that. There's no way I could ever get in front of people act act out silly comedy skits.
Oh, we don't do anything in front of the public. Level 1, which lasted 6 weeks, was a group of 17 new students, just laughing, learning stuff from our teacher, role playing, and tons of body and brain games. I was nervous about failing at first, but from the very first class, Troy, our teacher, taught us very quickly to embrace failing. Failing is actually one of the funniest parts about it, because everyone gives you a big ovation if you mess up. It's too funny. Every week has a different focus and it's been a fun challenge. For example, one week, the theme was "be in the moment", every week builds on the prior one, but it's all light hearted and silly fun.
Huh, that sounds kinda fun, but I am no where near comedian quality.
I'm not either, trust me. This stuff is for pure beginners, and most of the stuff are just funny games where we walk around acting like robots, play word games, bounce sounds back and forth, etc. That sounds cheesy, but there's plenty of great substance in there. It's awesome!
Ha! That does sound fun.
It is. It really is! About 12 of us went on to Level 2, and that started last night, but they have level one classes starting every month. Not that I am trying to get you to start doing it, but honestly, it's a fun way to meet a bunch of new people that also want to laugh, and I look forward to Wednesday's class by the time I wake up on Thursday morning!
Very cool!
Yeah, so any way, the reason I'm telling you this is because this weekend, the hideout theatre, where I take these classes, is having a 42 hour Improv Comedy marathon. Forty-two one hour sessions starting at 6pm on Friday, and going non-stop till noon on Sunday. Each one hour session is only $5, and it should funny as hell. I am definitely going to attend several of those one hour sessions, so let me know if you want to join in!
Cool! I may take you up on that!
You should, I promise you'll laugh and it's different to all the other repetitive crap you do all the time. One I highly recommend is the Maestro show on Friday at 7pm. This one is a 2 hour show so it's $11 ($10+ $1 handling fee), but it's typically their most popular show.

Click HERE to read about the event and the different shows. I kind of have an idea of which ones I will be attending, so reach out to me if it's of interest! The hideout theatre is downtown, corner of 7th and Congress.

(While you visit http://www.hideouttheatre.com , take a look at when their next Level 1 class starts. I promise you'll love every week of it and will be glad you took part! I can get you a discount on this Level 1 class so tell me if you want to sign up and I will hook you up!)
