Thoracic Segmental Dysfunction - Regions 3 and 4

My back hurts.
1- I’ve watched a lot of world Cup games, and I think contorting on the couch wasn’t good.
2- I did Yoga/Pilates workout last Thursday and muscles I didn’t even know existed on the human body hurt, so I’m sure I stressed stuff out.
3- We have a large front (0.5 acre) and back yard (1 acre). It hadn’t been mowed since last October. The riding lawn mower’s front wheels tend to lose their air, and as it had been so long since I gave it some attention, the battery had given out. So, after a few weeks of tinkering with airing up the tires, I finally decided to roll it out, and jump-start it with my car’s battery. Hold your thumbs ( Swedish equivalent of “Cross your fingers “) and try it again.

vrooo *cough* ooo *cough* ooom VROOM PUTTPUTT VRRROOOOOOMMMM! POPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOP!!! It works!

I’ll spare you the rest… the mower started up fine, and I mowed from the front and back from 5:30pm, till a bit after 8pm. Our yard is not like a high school football field. It is bumpy, rocky, undulated, and full of trees to slalom around.

I woke up on Wednesday with a bad back ache. Hmmm. I wonder why. I have a Chiropractor whom I hadn’t visited in over 2 yrs, so I couldn’t remember his name..

“Moffet, Buffet, Mullet… what’s the &*%# is his name? “

45 mins of searching yields success Roy Mullins! (what did we do before the internet???) I call Maryanne up, and she squeezes me in today! Hooray! 3:30pm!

Roy’s up to his usual.
He tests my arms strength/motion-ability (to figure out where the back failure is), my contort-ability, and neck strain, then POP, CRACK, ahh, the back is better, and he gives me an extra neck crack for good measure.

We discuss
- The perils of living in NY, and how his buddy moved to NY, started a practice with an office ½ as big as Roy’s Texas digs, and the rent was $5,000 USD a month. He liked it, but just couldn’t stand the yelling in the offices next door. No one was mad, people are just loud and very direct in NY, so after 2 yrs he sold his practice, and moved Santa Fe.
- He tells me about some UT athletes he’s treated, and how they’re doing.
- We discuss rich executives getting richer, and how Health Insurance tends to be going down the toilet.

I read the Insurance Claim form he fills out for me; he said there’s nothing unusual with my back, and I don’t need to come back. One cracking session should do it. (Nice! He didn’t try and sell me on coming back like most other doctors!)

I suffer from Thoracic Segmental Dysfunction - Regions 3 and 4.

The symptoms of segmental dysfunctions vary. Sometimes, they can cause spasms of the muscles of the back or neck at the level of the individual facet joint. The pain is frequently sharp in nature, and may lead to discomfort in other parts of the spine. It may also cause symptoms away from the problem. However, symptoms into the upper or lower extremities are common with segmental dysfunctions.

My back still hurts this morning, so I skipped this week’s 5:30am Pilates/Yoga/Core workout. I’d rather let it rest and be ready for the 10 mile run we have on Saturday.
