One Tomato, Two Tomato, Three Tomato, Four

The other day, I harvested what seemed to be a new record in Cherry Tomatoes. I must have grabbed over 120 of them off of the bushes. The tomatoes reside either in the fridge or simply in a bowl, on the counter.
We're been eating tomatoes everyday for dinner, on weekends for lunch, and when walking by through the kitchen, it so easy to grab a few and pop in your mouth like m&m's.

The other day when we decided that I should try to make pesto. I looked up a recipe for pesto off of the old faithful allrecipes.com, and it didn't disappoint. I opted for 3 packed cups worth of basil. We have so much of that stuff that 3 packed cups didn't even put a dent in the plants outside.

I was still feeling creative, and decided something had to be done with the exorbitant amount of tomatoes we had sitting there. I searched on the old faithful again, but I wasn't trusting any of the recipes for tomato stuff, as there were no pictures, and, well, most of them were full recipes, and not recipes for tomato sauce, tomato stew or tomato something without beef or chicken etc...

I turned to google, and came across this blog entry that had pictures. Seemed like an easy pasta sauce to create. So I made it.

I grabbed the first batch I made, and as I turned to face the preheated oven, it slipped out of my hand, flipped over and landed on the floor, spilling everything all over the place. As I grabbed all the tomatoes, washed them off, and started again, Eden and Karma nosed their way over but, i guess they're not Olive Oil, Garlic and salt and pepper fans, so I had to clean it all up without their help.

Overall, it came out quite good, but it lacks a little 'je ne sais quoi' to take it to the next level. Maybe I'll add some BAM! to it, and kick it up a notch next time.

Actually next time, it's Marla's turn to make a Tomato Pie!
