A week in review

Lately I've been overusing the word scattered too much, but it's a great word. Very descriptive, so I don't care. Plus, my brain, my thoughts, my actions are always scattered, so it's the perfect way to describe things.

I used Luminary 8 or 9 times on Wednesday. My colleagues at work pointed it out early on, so I made it a point to tie it in to conversations by steering them (the conversations) to where it could be accurately used.

Blast from the past - A friend I met at age 12 in France, Laurence, found me on the internet and pinged me. We caught up through some email exchanges, but those subsided when I got busy at work, and didn't get a chance to write her back. I need to email her. She lives in London now, and as it turns out she now goes by Larry.

I finished the yard work with help of Dan. It looks great. The inside has been cleaned to near perfection too. The house now feels like a museum, in which you barely want to do anything. I've heard museums sell faster than homes with stuff lying around, so lets hope someone wants our museum soon, so I don't have to keep tip toeing around, making sure my socks don't land outside of the hamper etc...

I rented a movie called
Green Street Hooligans. It was great. It’s pretty violent at times, but a great story starring Elijah Wood and his life-changing visit to England. If you don’t mind..., or, look-forward to some fist-a-cuffs in your Hollywood stories, I highly recommend it.

Running:
- Saturday, I ran an hour at 5:30am with Nedra. We ran the Capital route, which I’m guessing (based on time and approx pace) that was around 6.5 to 7 miles. It was miserable out. SUPER muggy, humid, and warm. I was drenched within 2 mins of running. Karma came along, he was happy as can be, leading the way, wagging his tail as always!
- Sunday, our group met at 7am, at a Trail entrance point and ran for an hour on the trail. I’m guessing about 5 to 5.5 miles. It was a good time. I had never run from the “Hill of Life” entrance point before, so it was an eye-opener. You start at the top of it, and run/dilly on down it to get the trail. Most of us took a right, but quite quickly, due to my agility in descents, I found myself alone with Julie. No one else was coming down. We took off without the other usuals and ran all the way till we could see the MoPac bridge. It was a 60 mins out and back. We settled down at the foot of the Hill of Life to catch our breath and get ready for the ascent. I mentioned to Julie that Marla and the Pike’s Peakers did 10 repeats of this hill a few weeks back in the 5:30pm heat, so I was going to run it. Wow. What a hill, I had to walk two times for a bit. It was brutal. Hats off pikers! (although, Marla did tell me that even the pikers run/walk it! I don’t’ blame them. Heh heh)
- Monday – Schedules said “20 to 40mins easy”. I ran by the house at 6am with Karma. My legs where dead, so at 21mins, I gladly called it a day.
- Tuesday. 5:30am group training. 1.25 mile warm-up, 5mile track workout – a medley of different speeds… MGP, 5K, Recovery. It was tough, but felt good all the way. Then a 1,25 mile cool down back to the car.

It’s already Wednesday, and there’s finally a decent chance for rain!
