Comments:

The Marathon group time trial took place today. I ran a Time Trial 4 weeks earlier with the summer performance project, and ran 9 lap instead of 8. I removed my worst lap and ran a 13min01 sec 2 Mile TT.
I spent countless hours furing the prior 3 weeks with UT professors teaching me how to count to 8 under pressure. Intense hours of training, counting:
"One, Two, Three, Four, Six, DAMMIT!!"
"Mike, you can do it, try again." yelled my coach.
"1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9"
"No Mike, you stop at eight. At EIGHT. Why are you still going?" he moaned. "Oh yeah. Man, this is too hard. I'm never going to be able to run precisely 8 laps." I moaned, as I melted into my chair.

My public goal for this TT was to beat that 13min01, and my personal goal was to run under 12:30.
My lap splits:

Lap 1 = 1:27
Lap 2 = 1:36
Lap 3 = 1:39
Lap 4 = 1:36
Lap 5 = 1:34
Lap 6 = 1:37
Lap 7 = 1:39
Lap 8 = 1:21

For a total of 12min 32secs, a 6min 16sec per mile average. Not bad! Best of all, I ran 8 laps, and only 8!

Mr. Macmillan, some super-whizz-bang-calculator-builder-guy that determines how fast you can run other races based on your results on other distance races, thinks I can run a full marathon in 3:18:21 based on that result. He's out of his mind if he thinks I can keep a 7min 35 sec pace for 26 miles. I'm thinking seven fiftyfives. We shall see!
