Badasses running far(ther)...

I sent the link to that Pole To Pole runner to my friend Russ Secker whom a couple of years ago ran the TransEurope race which was 64 days, 40 miles per day average for 2,568 miles, no rest days!  He informed me that some of the runners that ran TransEurope with him, are running TransAm(erica) right now.  That's a run from Los Angeles to NY (3,200 miles) in 70- stages. Averga 45 miles per day.  Peter Koch that won the TransEurope is handily winning TransAm now too.
Curiously, there are no Americans doing this run... Japanese and Europeans only.
Yet again I must ask, where is that dude Dean K., when "real" stuff is going down?

Russ wrote a book about his trans-country and trans-continent running experiences. (a link to buy that book.)   I'm featured in it, so you should buy it, as it will be a collectible when my day comes.

Speaking of crazy awesome long running...
Badwater starts on Monday. 135 miles in 120+degree heat.  My friend Mer is pacing a woman (Amy Palmiero-Winters)  who hopes to be the very first female below the knee amputee to finish badwater.  Last year she ran (and finished) Western States 100, then tried to do badwater a couple weeks later, but her leg was to beat up (read her report here) to get it done.  This year, she's ready.  Can't wait to follow her quest here.   If you're going to click on any link off this post, THIS is the one to click, because is one tough woman!
