RunLog - Monday 7/2 - Sunday 7/8 "Recovery Week"

(We're on a 2 hard weeks, 1 recovery week schedule, so this was our easy week.)

7/2/2007 - Monday - 5:45am - 7 Miles - Ran with Nedra Karma and Bruce up Congress, Campus to San Jacinto and back. Felt great all the way through except a little lull after the Capitol. No rain. When will I get to run in the rain?
7/3/2007 - Tuesday - 5:30am - 6.5 Miles - Ran from Annex to Barton Springs and ran 30seconds fast, 90 seconds slow for 12 sets. Sounds easier than it is, but I felt strong throughout and ran well. Some dropped my little group after 8 or 9, but 3 of us kept running well. The two I ran with are clearly better and faster runners than I am. I'm going to start using them as my rabbits to get faster. I've noticed I'm better than them in distance events, but they take me on the speed stuff.
7/4/2007 - Wednesday - 7:30am - 6 Miles - Ran The greenbelt with brad Amanda and Gordon. It has been raining a ton, but our route was in good shape. Up to Middle road, around middle rouad to the cut off down to the dam. Up Cedra Chop and back. About 1 hour and 20 minute total run, but many rest stops and we just ran it nice and easy. it was great out. No rain again, bummer. but there was mist/fog at the water level and in certain areas. very good run. karma did great too.
7/5/2007 - Thursday - 5:30am - 10 Miles - We ran 10 miles from Runtex, up to the Capitol, then right over to San Jacinto, then up by the stadium, and up thourgh Duval all the way the hell up to 51st street! Yes! That's 51 blocks!!! Then all the way back down via Guadalupe, Speedway and Congress for the return 51 blocks. So, 10 miles, 102 Blocks, plus the bridge, so 104 blocks of running! I felt tired the first 3 miles, but eventually my legs came back and picked up the pace for a good stretch. It was muggy ouit and I needed water in a bad way, and I guess I missed Ruthie and Steve's 2nd water stop, because i blidnly followed the dood in front of me who didn't take the right turn off Guadalupe to Speedway. Bummer. So i was hurting till i found a water house at a house and drank there, then at again drank at jester. Holy cold water at jester! Continued my way down to Runtex with Ken. Ran 10 miles in about 1hr 15mins. Not bad! Best part of the run? As coach Ruthie was driving up Duval to the 2nd waterstop, she stopped at a red light just after they passed me. I ran up to her car, she had the window down, and I ran up to her window, pulled out my finger gun and yelled in my most menacing voice: "Get out of your car, NOW!" whicle sticking my finger gun right my her head... Boy did she freak. Hahah. i think Steve jumped too.
7/6/2007 - Friday - 6 Miles - Friday I met Hi5Brad and Triscuit for 6 miles on the greenbelt. They agreed to try two different trails (they really didn't have any choice). It was great. It definitely added some hills and an extra mile to the 5 mile Friday morning run, but it was really fun. We had a blast running through Spider Jungle again, but we missed Lulu. Pantherwas a maybe, but yet again, he wussed out, or decided to sleep in instead of joining us. he would have loved it.
7/7/2007 - Saturday - 5 Miles - We ran the trail from Taco Deli (about 20 of us, with Ruth and Steve) It has been raining so so much, that our run, was more like a mud treck, waist high water crossing, knee high water walking in flooded parts, and we could have really used a machete for parts of it. but it was fun. it was more of an adventure than a run. The other 80 or so people made a big mistake by choosing the street, or safe routes as we adventurers enjoyed ourselves immensely. Legs felt pretty dead by mile 4.
7/8/2007 - Sunday - 0 Miles - I'm taking Sunday off, as I ran Friday, but I'll undoubtedly go hiking with Karma for a couple of miles so he can play on the greenbelt, but that don't count as training miles.

Total Miles - 40.5
