A new gadget!

A new Timex watch like the one I use for running is out. What's so different about it? Well, as you see in the picture, it's got a few extra buttons, which would allow me to control my iPod Nano.

It still has the usual stuff the old Timex Ironman watch I own has: 50 Lap memory, lap/splits, 2 interval timer, countdown timer, 2 alarms, indiglo etc...

I like the idea of not having to fiddle with fingers on my nano on my arm as I'm running. It's not the easiest task to feel your way around increasing or decreasing the volume, or moving to the next song... and clicking lap splits on my watch is pretty much second nature.

Gone would be my need to put the Nano on my arm, I could just use the clip, and clip it to my shorts and not worry about being able to see where I'm pressing. That, I think would be really nice. So...

...will this be my next purchase? It could very well be, but I need to see it in person first.

Read a full write up on it here.

you'll probably still need the nano on your (watch) arm. Otherwise your wrist is going to be wired to your shorts (insert some sort of Simpsons quote here)

That seems to be the main downside of this - more wires - you need to plug the watch in to the nano, so add another wire to deal with, along with the headphones.

I assumed it worked wirelessly...?

Also, it would be cool if it displayed track information, or even the entire ipod music selection process.

I guess what I am asking for, then, Steve, is for you to go ahead and release the friggin' iWatch already. iMan? iChrono? iRun? Whatever you want to call it just put the Shuffle in bed with the Timex and a bottle of Chardonnay, put on some Al Green and charge me $199 for the 2 gig version.

I don't know, don't you have to be an Ironman to wear a watch like that? ;)

Maybe this would be a better option?

Gordon,
It's wireless. There won't be cables dangling everywhere. Why would you evern think something like that would make it to market?

Amanda,
Thanks, I just ordered one for the pool party next weekend. i'm betting i'll be the life of the party.

I'd like to try one out on a test run, kimd of like how everyone tests out their bies before they buy them.
