Weak Sunday followed by Rough Monday

Yesterday I was supposed to run 6 miles, but I blame my inability to go any further than 3 miles, not on my sore quads, not on my sore hips, not on my slight hangover, not on my sore calves, or my plantars fasciitis acting up due to the horrendously slow pace I was keeping, but on Karma.

He just doesn’t like running the neighborhood streets. He gets so bored. I actually contemplated running on the trail, but I couldn’t stomach the idea of another hill to climb after Saturday’s adventure.

Yesterday afternoon Nedra sent out an email to the usual Monday group asking if we were meeting for the usual Monday 10 miler at 5:30am. Of course! I’m in! I replied instantly from my iPhone as it was sitting there next to me as I watched Golf on TV. Then, last night, I got a really friendly email from coach Ruthie: “Monday: Medium Long Run – 12-14 miles please”
How nice of her! We’ll gladly run 12 instead of 10, after a hellish 19 miles on Saturday that has my hips, knees and ankles still hurting for certain!!!

So, we quickly changed that 5:30am plan to 5:15am departure and struggled our way around Townlake, then up Speedway to 45th for 2 hours. Total distance: 12.5 miles this morning.

I’m tired, but I think the gods of recovery looked down on me today, and obviously felt sorry, because the IT guys came by my desk 5 mins after I sat down and said:
"Hi, when would be a good time to upgrade you to Office 2007?" How long will that take? Oh, total time, including re-installing PDF Writer, our product's MS plugins etc., and hour or so. Let's do it now!! Can we do it now!! Sure, we can start with you.

It's 11am, and I'm now blaming my "slippage" on Office 2007 learning curve. About to go to the web and look for 07 videos.

Come 11:30, it'll be time for lunch which includes a 20 min nap on my couch.

Quote of the days comes from someone else (who shall remain un-named)in my Chicago training program:
“I’m having a little traction problem here this morning. My goal now is to get going by 11:00, but that could slip.”
