I got my race confirmation packet yesterday in the mail, and got really really nervous. You know the nervous you get before a race where you feel all exhausted? yeah, that feeling.
My Bib number? 2872
Corral B - That's a good thing as I'll be inside of the first 5000 runners, and not fighting 45,000 for leg room.
Good thing is today my legs are not sore at all from the 24.48 mile run on saturday, followed by 4 miles on sunday and 4 yesterday. i got the option to eiterh run 7-10 miles today OR take the day off. i opted to take the day off.
I've officially decided that I'm going to take off with 3:10 pace group as they have no 3:15 pace group, and will run with them. i've been hitting faster times all the way along anyway. That way I won't freak out if I do a pit stop to poop. i've had to poop, 1:30 to 2hrs into runs lately. Also, it'll give me some slowing down buffer in the late stages if I need to, and slowing to a 7:24 which is 3:15 pace will feel good coming from a 7:15.
Regardless, I'll run till I die. That's what I do. Failure due to wussing out is not an option. Time failure due to First Aid tent visits, well, those a little bit more acceptable!
I've already made my pace band.
I've signed myself up for updates on the www.chicagomarathon.com website. You can too if you like! You'll get updates at the 5KM, 10, 15, 20 Half, 25, 30, 35, 40, and Finishline. I also made a pace thing on the right side of this blog, so on race day, when updates automatically get updated to this blog, you can see how I'm doing.
Race starts at 8am!
If I start to wander over the 3:15 times, just go hide under a pillow for me.
If I finish with a 3:15:59 or better, CELEBRATE.
If it says 3:16:00 or more, kick me when you see me.
Yeah yeah, I'm such a dork. But I was bored.

How exciting! No, you are not a dork, you are just getting all psyched up for this thing that you've prepped for. Woohoo! I'm signing up for the updates.
I also love how we can talk about pooping and instead of thinking "gross" we can somehow relate. Or at least I can. Except about the leaking. I don't understand that.
Go fucking run and don't think beyond the next day, it’s all mental. Then we'll drink heavily during the UT v Tech game.
But if you must be over cerebral, just think what Tiger, Eli Manning, Beckham or even John Daly (no wait, he just drinks) must go through with serious jack on the line, and you aren’t even close to that mental anguish. :)
shut up and run =)
I'm so proud of you, Wiley. I don't know why, it's not like I have any business being proud of you, but that's beside the point. I'm proud of you because I know how hard you've been working, and you deserve to have a great race. I'm signing up for the updates, and like so many people who will be back here in Austin, I'll be cheering for you. I can't wait to see how great your race turns out to be!!
I am SO signing up for the updates (even though I won't be able to get them in real time since I will be racing too!) and will be mentally cheering for you! I say we plan a HUGE drunk fest upon your return!!!
