THE SEARCH FOR A REPLACEMENT: HEB Branded Smoothie

I should've taken a picture of all the drinkable Yoghurts at the HEB, but forgot. Maybe next time I'm there I'll do it.
I'm having issues here, because they're almost all "Low Fat", "Light", or "Non-fat", and simply don't have the high carb, high protein numbers I'm looking for. Dammit, why don't they make regular ones?

Anyway, my first review is the HEB branded Smoothie. It looks kind of good, but it only comes in 4 packs. Quite the risk to take, as I'd have to toss 3 if I didn't like the first one.

I've always liked the peach flavored ones best, so I decided on the peach flavored one. I kind of wish they offered a multi-pack, so I could try out the other flavors too, but whatever.

The HEB smoothie is smaller in size than the "Hall Of Fame" Nouriche bottles. I guess I could drink two to make up for that. I think Carbs came to about 36 grams per bottle, so less than the 55 grams I'm used to.

I unscrewed the cap, and took a decent sip (but not full gulp). UGH-YUCK-PHOOEY-NASTY-BLAH. Holy shite that stuff was nasty. It literally tasted like sour milk gone bad with a tiny hint of Peach aftertaste once you're done gagging on the sour milk nastiness.
I gladly threw the other 3 away.

The search continues...

What about those Odwalla smoothie drinks? Usually in the health food section at Randall's or near the frozen food section at Whole Foods.

After reading your first blog about these drinks I saw that Costco carries them. I got a 6 pack of them to try. Will let you know how they taste in the morning. BTW they have 45g carbs and 9g protein.

They sell kefir at both central market and whole foods. They are in multiple serving not indivual type bottles, so you may not see them at first, but they are there. Lots of fruity flavors too.

I agree those HEB smoothies are worthless. I too used to drink the Nouriche smoothies almost daily and have yet to find a suitable replacement. It seemed the HEB brand appeared just as the Nouriche disappeared. You might try the Kefir, they aren't too bad.
