RA - Runners Anonymous

My therapy group met last night to discuss the marathons we all trained for over the summer.

Included were Bruce and Geezer who both ran St George Marathon in Utah last Saturday and qualified for Boston; as well as Chris, who ran Boise Marathon and not only qualified for Boston, but also got 2nd place in his Age Group; Kirsten who ran Toronto, and also qualified for Boston; and finally Javier, who by some amazing feat qualified for Boston in Chicago.

In attendance as well were Nedra who is already qualified for the big “B”, coach Ruth, and 8 of us that came ran Chicago.

Listening to everyone who was successful talk about their great experiences was very inspiring, and really helped bring back the fire to get out there and run my ass off at a future marathon to be part of Boston in April.  I hope the fire stays alive enough.

In addition, several people also stepped up and offered to pace me at the race, or run with me in the mornings to get my miles in on Monday mornings.  (10-14 miles is not fun alone on Mondays at 5:30am)

Finally, Nedra gave me a book, that I think may solve the riddle of clearing the gutter brain I’ve been getting.  I’ll give that book a good reading over the next few days and report back.  (It’s at home so I can’t give you the name of it now)

p.s. I also have to mention that many people have emailed, called, IM’d, texted me to offer their support over the last week, and telling me to “keep my head up” etc.  Thank you to you too.

Sunday, I’m running the greenbelt trails with Kerry, Tony and Jodie.  I can’t wait to run without a watch, and just run for fun.

Nothing like friends to pick you off the ground when you need it most!
