Woke up at 2:30am. Wide awake till 3:30am. Alarm rang at 4:20am. Snoozed and debated heavily if I should run or postpone my comeback another 48 hours. I ran. 2.5 warm up miles felt ok. 3 loops around Scenic hill felt ok, but I’m waaaaay out of shape => My legs felt like Gummy Tarzan. Ran back 2.5 cool down miles. IT Band started firing hatred for the run back. I hate being injured. I love the bad mood it puts me in.
On separate running news, my coach doesn’t want to see me at speed workouts anymore until September. Hmmm… I need to find distance running partners if I’m going to be building up to the three consecutive 100 mile weeks I want to run in about 15-18 weeks from now. Then again, this IT band needs to stop hurting before I can even dream of 30 mile weeks mile weeks.
It was supposed to rain hard today, but apparently, once again, the weather people got it all wrong. Seriously… now that I think about it, weather people are worse than politicians. If all goes as planned, if politicians lie, overpromise and don’t deliver, they usually don’t get relected. ( I know, this is not really the case) But at least they have to fight for re-election. Whereas weather people, they don’t even apologize or say anything about how wrong THEY were. Instead, they say (in their dumb ass voices: “Well, looks like the weather pattern changed here and here which caused this and that”… but they never say. “Well people, I got it all wrong. I thought the weather would to this and this, and therefore we’d get tons of rain for your run this morning, Mike. But I wasn’t able to predict a single thing. I suck.”
Did I ever mention I LOVE running in the rain? (provided it’s not frigidly cold out)

it's raining pretty hard at my house right now.
yeah, it's raining pretty hard here too, but taht's not the point.
They clearly said it would rain hard overnight, and before sunrise. I didn't get my rain. If I'm going to have IT Band Pain, the least I could get would be a good wetting rain, don't ya think?!
Since you mentioned 100mpw I thought you might be interested in this article:

I have been thinking about trying to increase my running base and weekly milage but I still can't get my head around 100. I don't know logistically how I could do that much less that my body would probably fall apart.
Hope your IT feels better.
