Backyard closing it's doors leads to new boycott.

This may not be new news to you that's reading this, but it was new news to me this morning:
BACKYARD TO CLOSE IT'S DOORS

I've been known to boycott stores and places before, so today:
"I hereby declare a personal boycott of the shops at the mall that destroyed the backyard at minimum until I set foot and approve of the new location, if there ever is one. "
Go to hell developers, and worst of luck to all those stores.

The Shops at the Galleria now join Walmart, Pepsi, Jack in the Box, and the recent addition Chili's at Dallas Love Field (don't even ask)

- Exxon was recently lifted off the boycott list, as I boycotted them for well over 10 years after the Exxon Valdez oil spill and their terrible cleanup job. But, I then read about some nice fundraising things they had done, so I lifted the boycott about 2.5 years ago.
- Lambert's BBQ boycott was recently lifted as well. This one lasted about a year, and was due to badly treating a friend who was the bartender upstairs.

Longest standing boycott? Jack in the Box.(1991) I was in a college English class where we had to debat things, and I debated the destruction of the amazon rainforest. Through my resarch preparing for the debate, I learned that they were one of the top purchasors or Rainforest Meats. (People destroy the rainforest to make room for cattle)

Most enjoyable boycott? Pepsi. Hate pepsi. Then again, I haven't tasted a soda in almost two years now, so coke's not fairing too well in terms of getting my money. But I'll always support Coca-Cola over Pepsi. It's mostly due to Pepsi's ads mocking the competition whereas coke just has creative ads. Plus, Pepsi tastes like crap. Then again, Coca-Cola is huge in mexico where I grew up, and Pepsi wasn't really even present.

Newest boycott? The Shops at the Galleria.

(thanks for the link, K-mo)

As someone who lives near the new Galleria, I'm happy to save my gas money by not driving "into town" to see a movie or buy a gift. Plus, the new Backyard (northwest corner of 71/620) is going to be even better than ever. Win-win from my perspective.

p.s. My Exxon boycott still stands though.

I can see how that makes sense and how it could be convenient, but I still refuse to shop there!

It can never be win-win, but maybe I'll give in to a "nice and different".
; )

Where ya been, Amy?! (I guess I may be the one who hasn't been around.)
