6 - 7 - 9 - 11 - 27 - 29 - 32 - 41 ( 2 )

No, those aren't the winning numbers to Saturday's Mega Millions Lottery.

I did a giant amount of laundry yesterday throughout the day.
1 load of whites
1 load of colors
1 load of running attire.
1 load of towels
1 load where I washed my shower curtain.

So, 5 loads in all. Last night I spread all the shirts out, with my patented "hand-ironing" as I laid one ontop of the other. Then, the magic of over night (or sometimes several days of) gravity does it's magic, and there's no need to iron anything!

So this morning I hung all the shirts up, and got a little anal retentive about it. I decided to put the white t-shirts and collared short sleeved together, the colored t-shirts together, and then all my short-sleeved collared colored shirts together. We'll see how long this set up works; I give it oh, until the next load when i just hang everything together.

Alright, I'll get to the point of this. Looking at ALL my clothes being clean and hanging up, it looked like way too much stuff. So I decided to count things:

I counted:
6 - Long Sleeve T-Shirts White and Colored

7 - White Collared Short Sleeve Shirts or Button Downs
32 - White Short Sleeve T-Shirts

27 - Colored Collared Short Sleeve Shirts or Button Downs
41 - Colored Short Sleeve T-Shirts

Then I went into my dresser drawers and counted:
11 - Long Sleeve Technical/Dry Fit Running Shirts
29 - Short Sleeve Technical/Dry Fit Running Shirts
10 - Pairs of Running Shorts (of which I really only like 6)
9 - Pairs of regular Shorts

But only:
2 - Pairs of Jeans - They're very old too. You know, the ones you have that you've worn so long that the bottoms of them have all those little strings? But they're so comfortable!

I definitely think I need to do three things.
1- Buy more jeans.
2- Buy more running shorts.
3- Bring all shirt counts down to a Maximum of 20. (Problem is, I really do wear almost everything, as I just donated 4 trash bags full of old clothing to Goodwill a few months ago) But if I do reduce to 20 in each shirt category, that's 49 shirts to be given away. 49 of 163 is 30%. 30% is not a bad number!
I'm just not sure i want to get rid of 9 technical/dry fit running shirts. None are in bad condition or super old, so I may have to sacrifice elsewhere to still reach a 30% reduction in (shirt) force

On another note, I ran this morning. 6 miles.

P.S. This doesn't even cover my business attire (shirts and pants), or my winter sweatshirts etc.

Here's what I think - take it or leave it - about your clothes:

1. If you wear it, and have room for it, don't throw it out/give it away.

2. It's not anal to organize your stuff. It simply means you respect your belongings enough to keep them clean & in order.

3. If all your clothes were clean and you couldn't fit it all in your closet/dresser AND/OR if you ever just stuff your things in drawers or leave anything on the floor, THEN you should donate.

Damn Mike...you must have time on your hands. Here's my system....I wear the same stuff over and over. I mostly wear shorts and if it's cold some kind of sweat pants. I don't dress up for work...wear scrubs. The only shoes I own are running shoes, flip flops and horse riding boots. Yes, I wear my flip flops with formal clothes! I buy new non athletic clothes once or twice a year. Can you tell...I'm not a trend setter. Shorts and t-shirts for me.
Once a year I'lI straighten up and sort out my clothes, if I haven't worn something in a year or I don't recognize it, it's gone. By the way, your posts are very entertaining.
