Apparently many of the triathletes (and swimmers) at Barton Springs think that they own it, or have more rights to it, because I've been paying close attention and have noticed that the leg and arm splashing increases as they approach us (standing leg soaking runners). Many swimmers also appear to purposely swim towards us as well so they can give us the stink eye. Today, one guy veered completely off of his straight swim line towards us to make us get out of his way. We were a good 8ft away from his swim lane. Freak.
How anyone can be irritated or in a bad mood when inside the perimiter of Barton Springs is really beyond me, so it makes me really sad to think that some people don't get the same happiness and peaceful feeling out of the springs that I do.
I've tried standing by the stairs, in the middle, and over on the far side. Apparently, those are ALL wrong spots.
If one of you triathletes that reads this cares to tell me what I'm doing wrong by simply standing in the water, please let me know. I hate being a big nuisance to those that have more rights to be in the water! Thanks in advance for your tips! ; )
P.S. I was going to run the 10.4 mile loop with Bruce, but the group swelled to include Ken and Jo Dee. A nice easy run. Had a good time.

Well considering myself a runner first and a triathlete only every-now-and-again...I have to ask, did you maybe have your shoes on? :-)
Or have you considered the idea that maybe, just maybe, these people have no clue how to sight or that maybe they are (dare I of all people say this)...posers!?
Wiley, we've never met, I know of you through mutual friends, whyiron, amy anderson and others.
Enjoy your blog!

Thanks for the kind words about enjoying my blog! nice!
Umm... no, they seem pretty much aware of the fact that they're coming right at us. Especially the dude that veered right into us for absolutely no other reason.
It's all good. I've decided to stand with my back facing the city tomorrow, and just let them swin right into me! It's going to be fun! I can't wait!
If it bugs you, avoid it by hopping in the creek proper as opposed to the pool.
Trail runners do it a lot. You can stand and soak as you wish, undisturbed by folks who are working out, and you don't have to pay $3.
Sometimes you see nekkid people, too.
If you go to the end of the parking lot and turn to your left, you can get in the creek upstream of the pool. If you go to the front of the parking lot and turn to your right, you can wade below the pool.
