I really don't know why I feel this way, but I was quite disappointed when I looked up which Austin Fivebucks stores would be closing and only saw 2 on the list:
- s congress and academy (where is academy street anyway?)
- mopac & slaughter (shame on south austin 'burbs for not drinking more Jo.)
Why didn't they close one of the two that are DIRECTLY across from each other downtown?
I'm always sad to hear about anyone losing their job, but I don't think that the baristas will have a hard time finding a replacement job, and sincerely hope they do find one.
I honestly don't know why i wanted more local stores to close.
Not sure if it was the hilarity of the situation as everyone always said: "There are Starbuck's EVERYWHERE."
...Or maybe I was subconsciously rooting for the little guys to get more customers.
...Or maybe because for years I've thought: "This is crazy... one of these days, they'll have to scale back."
...Or maybe because I don't drink coffee(drank a few frappucinos a few years ago) and simply don't understand why people continue to spend $5 on a coffee, when you can pay $1.25 at most gas stations for one ventiple times larger. (Rule: A gallon of gas should never cost less than a cup of jo)
...Or maybe I was just surprised to read the other day that something like 61 of 84 stores in Australia are closing, then only saw 2 on the list for Austin.
Nope, I don't know why; but I do know i'm disappointed and really confused on why only 2.
Here's the list for US stores.
And why do they call them Baristas? They're not even serving real drinks; they're making cups of coffee for christ sakes.
on a more important note: Why can't I nap?
And I really wish I'd bought this T-Shirt on shirt.woot.com
Dammit. (if anyone finds one (Large) let me know) I still want it.

Academy is where Hire.com used to be (the old Austin Opera House). It's the street that runs right next to Doc's.
I don't know if you still watch the shirt.woot forums, but there was someone rather recently offering that in a large or xl for trade.
