Take care of your babies

As a runner, the best snack I've been introduced to this summer has been the Watermelon.
Plenty of water (obviously), but also a good source of carbs and calories. Chris Carmichael, Lance Armstrong's old coach, thinks it's the best fruit to eat as an endurance athlete. (at least that's what he said in his book) I tend to think that Pomegranate is better, but it's not as easily found, consumed, or as cheap. However, I recently proved the superior nutritional value of the Pomegranate to some friends by comparing at www.calorieking.com

Anyway, it's important to handle that baby with care so it makes it home in one piece. Then cut it up in cubes, and put it in umpteen plastic containers and you have hydrating snacks for days upon days.

Yes, I am aware that I posted a picture of a Fig. Some people (one of which's name shall remain anonymous (erinaaaaatchooo!!! Phew! Pardon me, had to sneaze) believe Pomegranates are figs.

Haha...that is funny about the fig picture. I kept going back and reading your paragraph trying to figure out why you were talking about pomegranates. Then I read your last sentence.

Figs are the most yummy of all 3 fruits in your post. Especially in a newton cookie :).

I love getting watermelons for a buck or two on the side of the road in summer, it is one of the only great things about living here in the 100 degree heat. I also read in a nutrition book that watermelon is the highest rate fruit based on a bunch of factors that I won't go in to.
