Add Weed to the list

Apparently, I'm also allergic to Weed.
Digging a little deeper, it turns out Ragweed and Pigweed* are high this time of year. (I've never even heard of pigweed before.)

This particular allergy makes me sneeze and makes my nose and the top of my mouth itch like a sumbitch.

Other fun allergies I get to enjoy include (in order of worst reactions to least):
-Penicillin -> up to and including death?
-Hay fever / Dry grass -> miserably severe nose clogs, sneezing and eye itches
-Cedar fever -> Moderate to strong clogged or runny nose, sneezing and eye itches
-Dust - Sneeze attacks and ticklish top of mouth
-Cat dander (if I play with the cat close to my face) - Sneeze attacks and ticklish top of mouth
-Pigweed and Ragweed - Sneezing and obnoxious nose and mouth tickles
-Various Pollens - sneezing, clogged or runny nose, eyes watery
-Fresh Strawberries - itchy mouth and fingers.

We really need a good week of hard rain soon, or i'm going to be hating life with all the dry grass and plant pollens. Is it too much to ask for a good soaking once every 3 months?

What allergy do you get to take part of?!

* Wikipedia says Pigweed can mean any of a number of weedy plants which may be used as pig fodder

I must be allergic to 'weed', too. I have that itchy roof of the mouth, too.

In the spring, when all of the allergens are high, I have been known to break out in hives. It's loads of fun!

From the title, I thought you'd been hanging out at ACL with the "wrong" crowd!

Molds, although I don't get the typical sneeze/tickle you describe. Mine starts with a sore throat, then stuffed sinuses, then chest cough. Ugly, ugly stuff, man.

I'm with Shorey on the symptoms just add Cedar Fever and it's like having a non-contagious flu for 3 months...tons of fun;-)

death by medications on my list:
penicillin and it's brothers and sisters; biaxin; a few non-descripts; AND my very favorite...Ibuprofen. Fortunately, I leave the weeds, dog hair, and especially the dust mites to the husband.

WORK. I have been tested for assorted things and never react. So I can only assume it is work since irregardless of my work place, I often have sore, scratchy throat, running eyes and nose and sneezing fits.

Yup all the above and iodine (although I am still ok with penicillin.) Plus (for whatever reason) I have suddenly developed a "death by medication" allergy to Ibuprofen too. (like Meredith) Means you cannot take aspirin either. This one shuts down the lungs & breathing...weird. And yes Kirsten, I can relate. I am allergic to work also...dusty, moldy, hairy barns...oh, and nutty horse people...

Hey good news - you're not really allergic to strawberries. That's just part of one of your other allergies. It's an effect known as "Oral Allergy Syndrome."

From my early childhood, I thought that I was deathly allergic to melons and bananas. I always had to warn camp counselors and school cafeteria ladies about my weird food allergy.

Then, in my mid-twenties, I started noticing that avocados were giving me the same throat tightness and lip & tongue pain/tingling as melons did.

Now look, I thought: I've lived my whole life without melons, and I managed to get by just fine without nanners, too. But, c'mon! Avocados?! Really? That's just not fair!

So, I decided to see an allergist. I told him about the avocado problem, and on the spot, without any other info from me, he asked if I had trouble with melons and bananas. Was this allergist moonlighting as a psychic?

Nah. It turns out they all share a similar protein with one of my worst allergy nemeses: RAGWEED!

I'm happy to tell you that with my ragweed allergies under control, I can now, once again, enjoy the green, creamy wonder of guacamole and unagi sushi rolls.

So, there you go. If you find a way to beat your ragweed, pigweed, weed weed, or whatever weed allergies, you may someday be able to enjoy some yummy strawberry deliciousness, too.
