A few days in one post

Sunday I loaded up the fur face in the car, and went down to Barton Springs at 0700 hours. I knew if I didn't make myself get out of bed and get down there I'd never run at all. Sunday runs always suck, but they're vital to recover from the Saturday long run.
Ran a 1.2 mile Karma loop, then threw Karma back in the car, and went out for the rest of my run. Once again there was a big race downtown that started at 8am, so I took advantage and ran down riverside then up Congress in the middle of the road. It's fun to run the big streets when you have them all to yourself!
I didn't go fast. My legs were dead from Saturday's run, then tailgating, then the UT football game. I thought about how I could describe my pace during my run, and imagined almost every animal in the kingdom, but none really equaled my pathetic pace. But then I added the "pregnant" idea, and I decided my pace was about as fast as a pregnant hippopotamus. A brief stop at the Silicon Labs Marathon relay to wish some friends good luck, yielded a plea by them to have me join a team that lacked a runner. Thanks, but no thanks!

I continued my death march back to Barton Springs and soaked for almost 20 minutes. I then kept my sunday Torchy's Tacos streak alive, and bought me 3 Dirty Sanchez'. I almost went for the Taco of the Month, but spotted it after I had placed my order. It was a Seared Ahi Tuna taco with all kinds of goodness in it. I'm definitely going to hit up Torchys before September is over to have me one or two of those bad boys!

My mileage has decreased a bit for the last two weeks.
The week before the timberline marathon, I ran 56.5 miles in 4 days. (Thursday, Friday and Sunday were travel/recovery days)
Last week I did even worse topping out at a cool 54.2 miles. That was due to Monday Travel, 10 on Tue, 10 on Wed, much needed recovery Thursday, 3.5 mile greenbelt run on Friday, 23.5 saturday, and 7.2 miles yesterday)

It's time to crank it back up, and today, was a good start. Met up with Jason and Bruce at 5:30 and ran 14. Legs were feeling much better than Sunday, but my hamstrings are a teenie bit tender. No injury, just tender from Saturday's long run. Shooting for a solid 73to75 this week (regarded as a recovery week). I'll then go north of 80 the following week to get things back on track.
