Macmillan says what???

- I plugged in my 1 mile time (5:26) from Saturday into the McMillan Calculator* just for Sh*ts and Grins to see what it would spit back at me.
- As I wasn't very pleased with my performance, I also put in a time I think I can easily hit if i run a smarter 1 mile (5:14).
- I then put in a stretch time of 5:09 that i could reach if it's downhill, the wind is in my back, and i have roller skates on.
- I then did some reverse engineering and plugged in a 3:09 marathon (which is my current goal) to see what that would give me for a 1 mile.
- To end things on a good note, I plugged in the worst time I can get at CIM marathon (3:15:59) and still make it to Boston.

5:26 mile translates to a 3:03:30 marathon.
5:14 mile translates to a 2:56:45 marathon.
5:09 mile translates to a 2:53:56 marathon.

a 3:09:00 marathon translates into a 5:35 mile.
a 3:15:59 marathon translates into a 5:48 mile.

What does this all mean?
- I think it means almost as much as it would mean if I got a Psychic to tell me where I put my TV's remote control.
- Or, it also means that I need to stop being a wuss in the late miles and get my ass to Boston.

* McMillan Calculator for you non runners:
Ever wonder what pace you should be running in workouts? How 'bout when you run a 5K and want to know what you could run for 10K? Well, wonder no more. Since the mid-1990's, I've been working on a method that estimates your equivalent race performances using a current race time at any distance as well as giving the appropriate pace range for all the different types of workouts that you perform.

I second that. Food for thought...first yr I ran with rogue, my 2 mile time trial time showed that I would run 3:50 at AT&T (BQ for me). Guess what...I did! I was bound and determined that since that's what the calculator said was a reasonable thing to do. I barely made it, it was by far the hardest marathon I have run. Bet your brain in the game. It seems you are plenty fit. Just run SMART!

Screw Boston. You do more than enough mileage to come up and do Leadville next year.
