Holy crap!!! We're inside 45 days to go!!
Ran 1.6 warmup and 1.6 mile warmdown.
In the middle we had CV work (critical velocity). I love this workout.
2000M X 4, all at CV pace, which is about 12-15k pace. (with a 1 to 2 min break in between - preferrably closer to 1 min.)
I'm finally coming to terms with my fitness and accepting it. That statement probably makes no sense. Lets see if I can explain it....
I have failed at a 3:10 marathon 3 times, so i've been runnng my same track workout splits for 2 years repeatedly. I know them by heart, I know how they feel, and can pop in and out of 5k, 10k, 15k, HMGP and MGP paces like i'm on Autopilot.
So, my Marathon goal is 3:10, but based on my recent 10K, pace calculators suggest a fitness level of a 3:01:37 marathon. So today I asked Sisson if I should run my current Fitness Times or Marathon based times. He told me to run based on fitness times for the CV.
So that means decreasing paces:
3:10:00 marathon = 6:30/10K - 6:42/15K
3:01:37 marathon = 6:14/10K - 6:25/15K
It's so weird to move up in track split times after probably close to 100 track workouts at the same 3:10 based paces for so long. I know this sounds really dumb to people reading this, but I've accepted that I'm much fitter and I've accepted that I need to run faster track times. It feels weird though, but this is my second trackworkout on new speeds based on fitness, and I nailed it.
Goal: 1.36-1.38 range on my 400s for a 6:25 pace

Nailed a track again! i felt fantastic. I could have EASILY done a 5th set.
By the way, I don't care what my fitness level suggests I can run for a marathon. I mean, sure it adds confidence, which i welcome; but my goal is a 3:10 marathon. Once I hit 3:10, we can start thinking about something else. But until then, 3:10 is the goal.
RESPECT. THE. DISTANCE.
Happy running!

I think you are smart to shoot for 3:10 for the reasons stated.
However, (for what its worth), based on my observations of where your are in your training, I think a 3:05 is within reach (in 45 days). I'm still very impressed with your showing at IBM.
Regardless, after CIM, your still not done running yet.
Awesome Mike! I have watched your running become more and more fluid as our training has progressed. Way to go...
Do they have pacers at CIM? Stick with them 'till 20 miles and then see where you're at...
Great workout!
Brownie, the pacers are what YOU would call your heroes.
Check out their Bios: http://www.runcim.org/data/PaceBios.html
Holy shit!!
Julia, Ron, Thank you. I'm feeling great... better than i've ever felt in my life. It's so strange.
Completely understand the 3:10 goal. Glad training is going so well!!!
Damn, I'd run 3:35 just to meet Tim. The guy is a legend. Be sure to pick up an Auburn Running Company t-shirt!
