I'm not even going to begin to go into why the Harris Poll is stupid, other than, it's just a bunch of "has beens" that vote. It's no better than the AP Poll it replaced.
However, the coaches poll. I understand it's a 3 way tie in the BIG XII South. However, I'm only talking Texas and OU.
I'd like each and every coach that has a vote in the poll to put themselves in the position of Head Coach of the University of Texas football team. If you were in this situation, wouldn't you expect all your peers to put you ahead of the team you beat on a neutral field earlier in the season?
I mean, how can you look your peers in the eye when you end up in that same situation in the future and expect people to make a rational decision. We beat them fair and square, by 10 points. Why not reward the team that won the head to head match up??
Anyway, that's my opinion, and I know it doesn't count for anything, but I had to release the feeling somewhere.

I never bought the neutral field thing, it's still in Texas, an easy drive from Austin. If they played the game at Heinz field or something, that's neutral.
If you go with your logic then you put UT ahead of Oklahoma but then you hafta put Texas Tech ahead of UT.
This will all be moot when the Aggies whoop the 'horns this weekend.
Look, as far as I can tell -- anyone who makes the "it's not a neutral field - it's in Texas" argument has obviously NEVER been to a TX/OU game. The stadium is divided down the middle -- there is equal fan noise/support for the entire game -- neither team practices or plays on the field all year long. It IS a neutral field in every sense. In fact, I was irritated at this year's game because I observed far more crimson in our sea of burnt orange than the other way around. Besides, it would likely offend Texas A&M fans, Texas Tech fans, etc. to assume that every Texan is a Longhorn. As much as I would like that to be true...it just isn't. Brownie, no offense, but that's a crap argument.
Now, I will say the Tech thing is true and it sucks for the Longhorns, but still...
Mike -- I agree.
...and it's the same 3 hour drive from Norman. Neutral.
Watch next time the Steelers play the Bengals. That stadium is about 95% black and gold. That doesn't make it a home game for PGH. And Cincy is probably less than three hours from PGH. Same with UT. It's in their state, and they're playing a team from out of state.
People argue the BCS thing way too early. Let's let the season play out first.
it's the last weekend of the regualr season, ignoramus.
How much longer can I wait??
I'm sorry that your team, Pitt, is so sorry that you've already switched over the following the NFL.
And yes, it's a Neutral FIELD and stadium. Evenly split. Its actually closer for OU to drive down there.
Wait for the conference championships to play out, we'll see where the chips fall then, you gross ignoramus!
I was using that as an example. It's funny how Texans brag about the "Republic of Texas" and all that jazz then play the neutrality card on the Red River Rivalry.
