T - 9! : 4 mile turkey tempo

Opted not to run the Turkey Trot and face the 10-13 thousand expected
participants and instead met up with Karma, Kate, Ken, Kamran and
Larry for our prescribed workout: 4 miles at Tempo pace.
After a karma loop and a second warmup mile, we ran the enfield loop
for our 4 miles. It felt pretty labored due to stupid side stitch.
4th side stitch in 3weeks. Not good.

Pace goal was 6:40, my watch shows 6:39, 6:39, 6:32(hills),
6:43(DOWNHILL but side stitch/cramp).

I've got that 6:40 pace down better than my marathon goal pace of
7:15, that's for sure.

Barton springs was quiet this Thanksgiving morning, but the water was
as cold as always!

good choice to skip the turkey trot! It was a zoo. We lined up (correctly) mid/back of the pack (running with Suellen) and it was wall to wall people the entire 5 miles. Looking at the results I saw one woman who ran a 1:10 (14 min pace) who lined up only 30 seconds behind the starters. WTF? Really?

Yeah, it was a zoo indeed. And it was far more humid than I realized. About died at mile 2. Glad it wasn't a race kind of race. And I wore my turkey hat!

Slingshot - really!! I ran the TT a couple of years ago and lined up "correctly". Within minutes, I was passing walkers, shufflers and people with double strollers. I told one lady what she was doing did not look like 6 min pace. Not nice but pleeeease - can't people read? There is one lady at the real races who routinely lines up right behind the elites. She is then routinely trampled by 2000+ pissed off people as she jogs along at her 14min/mile pace. I see her at every race.
