I met Ken at 7:30 at Barton springs and counted 7 cars instead of the usual 30 or so. Kudos to those brave souls for swimming!
We ran 8.3 miles and were amazed at how few runners were out on the hike and bike trail.
My car said 32 degrees when i parked and 32 when i left. We got lucky that there really was no wind to speak of. A little chilly for the first 2 miles, but 2 long sleeves, a windbreaker, shorts, gloves and head beanie for ear protection was perfect. I actually got a little warm around mile 5 wishing i'd only taken 1 long sleeve.
I figured there were no runners out and about as everyone was either at work, or getting a head start on last minute xmas shopping, but I don't think either one is the case.
I drove down and up I-35 at 7:20am, 8:45am, and then again at 9am and 9:45am, and there were no cars on what is usually a parking lot.
So then I figured i would get manhandled by the masses who were out xmas shopping but again, that turned out to be false as well. There was no one at Whalgreens, nor at the University of Texas Co-Op -> Rockstar parking both times. I then got brave and decided to fight the crowds buying xmas food at the (affectionatly nicknamed) "ghetto" HEB grocery store on Oltorf. Anyone who knows this store, is aware of the parking lot disaster at any time of day. Half the parking lot was empty and no one ahead of me at the cash register!!
Therefore, either all morning runners in Austin are already out of town, OR, they all wussed out!
I am opting today to call every single morning runner in Austin a WUSS today! (except the dozen or so we did see!)
Chastize me if you like, but I know how many people are usually out there at 7-8am on Mondays, and you guys were NOT there!

I believe they must have all been on N. Lamar, Anderson Ln., Burnet Rd., Bee Caves Rd. and at Whole Foods downtown. That's where I spent most of my morning up until about 1:45pm and it was a total cluster.
Some of us have broken toes, but I guess I'm a wuss for not running on it. And the people that weren't on N. Lamar, Anderson Ln., Burnet Rd., Bee Caves Rd. or at Whole Foods downtown were at the Costco on 183. that place was a disaster!
I was running...but I wussed this morning. I wussed out at last night's core class and left with 15 mins left to go.
