Amy posted a REALLY yummy looking cinnamon bun thingie on her blog. You kinda need to go check it out/read about it HERE, to understand what I'm talking about...
For me to make this ridiculously good looking "quick and easy" Bun, it would require more than just digging in my pantry for some "quick" ingredients. Here's the recipe, and I put a couple of ** on the items I don't have (or currently have) at home.
** 1 1/2 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
** 4 tsp. rapid rise yeast
** 2/3 cup warm low-fat milk (does fat free organic milk count?)
** 3 T. oil (does olive oil work??)
** 1/2 tsp. vanilla
** 1 egg (just ate the last ones couple days ago)
** 3 T. butter (does spray butter count??? I used my last country crock stuff for my homemade mashed potatoes)
** 3/4 cup brown sugar
** 1 tsp. cinnamon
** large pinch cardamom
** 1 cup powdered sugar (could i crush regular sugar?)
** 1-2 T. milk or cream (does fat free organic milk count?)
** splash of vanilla
so as you see, what was meant to be quick and easy, turned into not possible at all.
Bummer. maybe for new years i'll resolute to add baking stuff to my ammunitions cabinet.
Honestly though, it does sound REALLY quick and REALLY EASY. Like esay enough for Kamran to master.

I read this in the morning too and thought ... sweet quick and easy. Just so you know my "pantry" is one up on you. I have 1 egg but otherwise the "**" matches up.
I've cooked twice this week. If I do it one more time it'll be a record as far as per week cooking occurrences for the year!

It does assume a stocked pantry. But that's easy enough.
Your milk counts. Your butter-whatever-you-called it, does not. Real food. Always. No fake shit.
Let me know if you want to go grocery shopping.
spray butter is fantastic. don't hate on the spray!
Grocery shopping! maybe once i acquire some skills and find a jay oh bee!
But otherwise, my grocery shopping is darn good. i eat out on average 2 times a week. i'm a poster child of the meredith school of healthy eating, minus the cupcakes cheetos and a few other unmentionalbles. but i shop and eat VERY well.
OMG! Sacrilege!! Get some REAL butter would you???!!!
Mike - perhaps the absence on butter and at least low fat milk would contribute to your probs with keeping wt on. Now I don't eat butter or bacon and eat beef very rarely and I use 0 calorie olive oil spray and Meredith's favorite healthy butter (can't think of the name). Can't say I'll be making those cininiman buns because if I make them I'll eat them all. If you make them and give me one, I'll definately eat it! I would second Mike on the shopping and eating well but I do need to work on staying away from cookies, chocolate and so forth.
low fat milk is disgusting
i buy a thing of country crock from time to time.
spray butter is more convenient and tastes as good.
i keep the weight on, i just can't add more to it. but it's ok. i'm perfectly ok with myself.
it tends to be others that are apparently worried about it!
hahah
