their #1 team is. You expect the team to get new student athletes
every year and reload with new talent. The players hardly ever leave
and keep their alliance to their school throughout their life.
As a fan, you bleed the color of your team and you despise the yearly
in-conference rivals. You also tend to develop hatred towards select
non-conference teams due to games played several years ago, or other
silly reasons I won't go into. You know, teams that you really
should'nt have much reason to dislike; but you do!
Oh say like, Arkansas, USC, Notre Dame, Alabama, Miami, Florida, TCU,
LSU, VaTech etc.
To me, the NFL is completely different. The teams switch players so
often that you can't keep up with who plays where or who coaches
what. A few years ago I became a fan of the Detroit Lions, mainly
because they had 6 U. Of Texas players on the team. Those days have
come and gone, and recently they lost every game this season so Im
moving on!
Now I like the Titans the most as they have 5 UT players!
I even have a stupid thing where I don't really like Red uniforms.
Watching the NFL playoffs I've been cheering on players more than
teams, or cheering against teams more than for teams. Take for
instance the game that's on right now. I really don't care if Philly
or Minny wins, but since Ced Griffin is a UT player, the balance tilts
to the Vikings even though they have Adrian Peterson that inflicted so
much pain in me during his days at Oklahoma.
Woohoo!! Ced just had an INT!!! How's that for timing!
So this weekend I've sat watching the NFL games and rooted for Justin
Blayloc'ks team who lost, Quentin Jammer's team who beat evil Peyton
Manning, and now hopefully Ced's team defeats the Eagles!
Tomorrow will be a different story. The burnt orange will be worn all
day. The Rose Bowl game DVDs will be put on TV so I can see them as I
walk by, and all things Columbus Ohio will be despised and ferociously
hated!
Who names their team after a useless nut anyway? A nut that has
absolutely no value to mankind? Oh yeah, the evil people from the
Ohio State University do. That's who.
HOOK'EM HORNS!!!
