Well, that's it for long runs before the Stockholm Marathon.
You know you've completely lost your mind when you're OK with your alarm ringing at 3:51AM, then
snoozing till 4:00 and getting up. (I refuse to get up in the threes)
Many friends were kind enou
gh to run part, or all of the miles with me this morning, and 5 even braved picking up the pace to faster than Marathon goal pace for the last 4 miles.
Based on some reports, it looks like we ran closer to (or over) 25 miles instead of 24, which is fine. We held about a 7:50, then 7:45 then maybe 7:30'ish for most of the run, then for the last 4 miles or so, cranked it down to 6:35-6:45 range based on the terrain. I did not want to redline my
heart rate on any uphills, and I also didn't want to stretch out my hamstrings too too much with two weeks to go. There's really nothing to prove to myself or anyone today, so
just getting under MGP and sustaining that for 4 miles after putting in 20 miles was plenty. (MGP being 6:50).
My hamstrings are not injured by any means, but they are a little tender, and I keep sitting on Ice Packs for 15-20 mins every day after the runs and that's making them feel really good. Just some
maintenance to stay as race ready as possible.
That's all for today. It's time to enjoy the rain!

Thank you for this post!
True indeed! Nobody wants to stretch his or her hamstrings that much. So just keep the fire burning!
