I figured out that I think I can type to my heart's content with
roaming off, then quickly turn it on, send email, download email and
turn it back off to limit the fees associated with it. If only I could
find free WIFI, I'd be good to go, but Sweden is light years ahead of
the US when it comes to telephony, and web access so they (almost)
all have "3G" or some other access and don't new to offer WIFI. : (
My flight landed 15 mins early but I was easily in the last 10% to get
my luggage. Weather has been nice with not a cloud in the sky and
probably around 60, but it's supposed to get rainy wed-thurs and
cooler. Nice weather on vacation is nice, but it needs to get cloudy
and cool for Saturday!
Today(Monday+7 hours ahead of Austin) I woke up at 8 after sleeping
for 10 hours and napping for about an hour in the afternoon. Dad and
I drove in to Enköping (20mins) to go to the bank, then off to Uppsala
to buy him a Laptop, Printer and Internet. Also went to the grocery
store and I loaded up on stuff to get my stomach back to what it's
used for starting on Wednesday. Hopefully 3 days of carbing up and
race nutrition will be good enough.
Got home at 3, had lunch then watched the Giro live on TV with a cat
nap or two. Come 6:30 I took off for a 7.27 mile run (according to my
old Garmin 201 that has apparently decided to cooperate) - probably
because this is farm country and big blue skies. (photos to come once
my dad's laptop is functional)
I have to assume the compression socks did their job on the plane
since I felt really fresh and legs felt great. I'll sleep with them
tonight again, and every night till raceday. I saw no humans during
the first 32 minutes, then saw 8 cars, a cyclist, a farmer in tractor
pulling something STINKY, and a lady waking three doggies. I thought
of stopping and saying hello like Geezer does on his runs but she
looked really confused to see someone out running in the middle of
nowhere so I opted not to say hello. ; )
All this to say I feel alive after running 7.27 miles in 58:51! Just
hope I can get sleepy soon as it's 9 and I need to get to bed soon.
Tomorrow we leave around 8am to go meet Russ. My assumption is that
I'll run with Russ around noon'ish from one aid station to another for
about 10k, then meet him again at the finish and hand over all the
cards and treats and the two pieces of Salmon I just grilled up for
him. I'll take my flip camera and hope to get a chance to uplaod the
videos to share!
One last thing: I forgot Body Glide, and all my non raceday shorts
which means I'm sure glad I packed my raceday gear in my carryon and
will just have to run and wash every day.
That's all I got.
Vi ses, God natt, och spring glada!

Glad you made it safely. I didn't realize your dad was already in Sweden. How cool of him to be willing to buy a laptop just for your visit ;-).
I'm *SHOCKED* you didn't pack running shorts. Isn't that pretty much what you live in????
