Woohoo!!!

We're well on pace to eclipse that all time record of 100 degree days! At least that's what my boy Jim Spenser on www.kxan.com wrote yesterday!
Keep up the intensity and the heat, Austin!

Today's high at Camp Mabry climbed to 103 degrees, making it the 65th day this summer that temperatures have reached or exceeded 100 degrees.

One more day, and we will tie for #2 on the list of most 100 degree days on record in Austin. Five more days of triple digits, and we will reach 70 100 degree summer days–the most ever recorded. The current record is from 1925, when there were 69 100 degree days.

So, what are the odds of that happening? Well, we should easily reach a tie for 2nd place on the list tomorrow, and likely into a solo 2nd place position on Thursday, but after that, it's a bit tricky.

There are indications that afternoon highs could drop below 100 degrees on Friday, and remain in the 90s into early next week, as the ridge of high pressure is replaced by a weak low pressure system over central and eastern parts of Texas.

This will also allow for some scattered showers and thunderstorms each day, though rain probabilities now are only at 20 percent.

If the high regains a foothold over Texas next week, a return to 100 degree or hotter weather will be likely.

If I were betting on the outcome, my money would be on 70 or more days, and a new record by early September.

I think we had two or three days where it reached 85 in Manitou, it's been a scorcher of a summer.

I know. I heard about the carnage at leadville due to the 80degree weather.
I feel for sorry for all those that were unprepared and only had SPF 45 on their necks.

It is rare to get that hot at so high an altitude. I burned on Hope Pass despite having put on SPF 50 at Twin Lakes. Can't wait to hear what the Austinites have to say about that "heat."

they said it was hot, too.
they cried for mommy when they saw the llamas, and held each other's hands.
