Not for the pace geeking, but to log mileage.
I anticipate much more trail running in my near and long term future, and i'm jealous of the rich data that my buddies keep throwing at me:
I wouldn't use it for a road race, except to log data, as I know it's near suicide to use on instead of a trusted stop watch on raceday.
Anyone got one to sell me for under $100?

I live by the gremlin for road races! It keeps me in check for the first couple of miles. If I didn't have it I would, with out a doubt run my first mile faster that I should.
the wizard would probably be disappointed if he knew you were a slave to the gremlin instead of a champ at feeling a pace! ; )
careful, because you will die with it one day too.
learn to run by feel my friend, learn to run by feel.
in addition, the gps is not accurate the longer the race. a marathon will be longer or shorter than your gps and you'll be off your time based on official certified course due to tangents.
yes, figuring out a pace to start running is good, but relying on it, longterm is russian roulette.
then again, i don't do short stuff like you do so maybe it works for those, but no way will they ever be accurate on a marathon.
; )
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO......
Hey Mike look for a 305, it is pretty good and right now quite cheap. Last year I believe it was 150. The 205 is cheaper still but I dont think its reciever is as good. My 305 is about to expire but it is still doing its tricks... It is quite large but it helps meet other runners.
