Breaking everything these days.

Friday morning I took laundry out of my dryer, turned around and started walking with a giant pile in my arms. As I did this, i took the turn too sharp and slammed my right foot's little toe on the door frame. It hurt like hell, much worse than when you slam your toes against a chair or the leg of a table, etc. It may be broken, but I'm not sure. I talked to several people who all tell me there's nothing I can do but tape it to the next toe, and just let it heal itself, (including a friend's wife who is a doctor). There was therefore no point in going to the hospital to get it checked out and pay a few hundred dollars to hear the same thing. It hurt all day Friday was pretty swollen. Saturday, the pain was still there, I took that photo and as you can see, swelling was way down. This morning it was still a little painful but no where near Friday. Is it broken? Who knows. I'll call it broken, since I'm calling my knee broken too.

Friday night, I was on my bike, and was just leaving one place, and my U-lock that i had on my handlebar got jammed when i went to turn, locked up the handlebars and i ended up on the ground. Some friends saw it happen and said it was the funniest thing they'd seen in quite sometime. I was laughing too because it was such a silly fall. Ended up scuffing up my left knee pretty good, and my right hand too, but it's all good, just some nice scabs. Ha!

Went out for a run today, Sunday.
Was going to run the trails as my knee doesn't seem to mind trails, but at the last moment I decided that I just had to run flats, and would just run whatever distance I decided as I went

After mapping out my run on Gmaps, I ended up with 7.4 miles with 6.25 of those in a total of 40mins 57 seconds, including 2 brief water stops. I had no intentions to run faster paces at all, until i had finished two warm up miles and wanted to feel how the knee would hold up at high paces. It was extremely windy which made 3 of those miles quite tough. I'll take an average 6:32/mile for 6.25 miles of windy hell with 2 water stops.

The potentially broken toe was a non-factor. I didn't feel any pain whatsoever during the entire run, or even post run, but 4 hours later, I can feel a little discomfort. Nothing alarming.

The knee held up pretty good, I guess. There's discomfort, but it's tolerable, and not debilitating, so I guess I'll run again on Wednesday with the guys for 10 miles.

I just hope my days of breaking body parts are over, even though people say things come in threes, because we have a big run this coming weekend, our last race preparation/simulation before Boston and I need to figure out what my plan is for that, and for race day.
